Governance of the Centre
The Centre is administered through a Governing Board, which is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University. The Board superintends all policy and budgetary matters and is responsible for the recruitment, promotion and discipline of staff. It considers and recommends the Centre’s budget to the Energy Commission of Nigeria, which in turn considers and recommends it onward to the supervising Federal Ministry.
The main committee of the Board is the Energy Research and Training Advisory (ERATA) Committee, which is chaired by the Director of the Centre. ERATA advises the Board on the research, development and training activities of the Centre.
The day-to-day running of the Centre is vested in the Director, in consultation with the Management Committee. In addition, the Centre operates two standing committees: the Staff Appointment and Promotion Committee and the Senior Staff Committee.

ERATA Committee
The Energy Research and Training Advisory Committee, chaired by the Director. Advises the Governing Board on the research, development and training activities of the Centre.
Management Committee
Works with the Director on the day-to-day running of the Centre and the coordination of its research and administrative units.
Staff Appointment & Promotion Committee
A standing committee of the Centre dealing with staff appointments, promotion and related personnel matters.
Senior Staff Committee
A standing committee of the Centre representing and deliberating on senior staff matters.
Energy Commission of Nigeria
Has supervised and funded the Centre since 1988, and coordinates national energy planning and policy implementation on behalf of the Federal Government.
